The Hong Kong Preschool Playgroups Association
The Hong Kong Preschool Playgroups Association is unique to Hong Kong. For almost 30 years, we've been a non-profit, community-oriented association that is managed and operated entirely by parent volunteers. We strive to keep tuition fees low, and since we are non-profit, we can focus on (1) hiring the best English-speaking staff possible and (2) providing a clean, safe and nurturing environment for your children.
We are an educational charity registered with the Hong Kong SAR government. We were first established in April 1979 as a branch of the British PPA and became an independent entity in 1997.
Throughout Hong Kong, there are six pre-schools and playgroups under the HKPPA banner. The HKPPA promotes the preschool education and social development of children in a learning-through-play environment. The six groups under the HKPPA umbrella are proud to offer relaxed and friendly environments for babies, toddlers and preschoolers to explore, play, create, discover, learn and grow.
The HKPPA promotes child-directed play and believes that play is the best and most natural way for a child to learn. Children are encouraged to explore at their own pace, to make their own choices, and to realize their own discoveries. We believe that this helps young children to learn more effectively and to gain self-confidence. At the HKPPA, children are not pushed to hurry through their play or distracted from what interests them.
We believe that the pre-school years are vital - for mental, physical and emotional development - and we strongly encourage all parents to play together with their children. Research has shown that a child’s ability to learn improves considerably when parents are involved. With that in mind, the HKPPA offers:
